Introduction
The Aqua Watch Swimming Pool Alarm is your answer in helping to prevent drownings in your swimming pool. The Aqua Watch Swimming Pool Alarm is equipped with the most state-of-the-art pool alarm technology available - subsurface wave detection. It not only looks artistic and sleek, but most importantly its a high-tech, high-quality and highly-sensitive alarm as well as a solid, safe, easy to install and use product. In addition, the Aqua Watch Swimming Pool Alarm has received all major certifications.
Basic Principle
The Aqua Watch Swimming Pool Alarm is an electronic monitoring system that automatically sounds an alarm when a child or pet over 5 kg falls into your unsupervised pool. The Aqua Watch Swimming Pool Alarm is a portable, self-contained, light weight unit that is safe and simple to operate. Entry into the pool will be detected by the unit’s electronic sensor, thus triggering a loud pulsating alarm on the pool fitted unit and on a RF transmitter placed internally within your home.
Pool Side Main Alarm Unit
The Aqua Watch Swimming Pool Alarm should be placed on a flat surface for best results. The throat of the unit is designed to work in most pools and spas with an in-wall cleaner, pool covers and solar blankets. Each pool side alarm unit can be used with multiple receivers. The pool side main alarm unit is constructed from sturdy plastic that is able to withstand the adverse environment of a swimming pool. It is water resistant up to grade IPX5. If your pool is larger than 60 square metres (5m x 12m) or if you have an irregular shaped pool, please contact our distributors to clarify the recommended number of alarms needed as well as the most suitable locations for the pool side alarm units.
Remote Receiver
The remote receiver is similar to most wireless equipment and has a maximum range of 100 metres from the pool side main alarm unit in open air. The remote receiver is controlled by the pool side main alarm unit. Once the pool side main alarm unit sounds, the remote receiver will receive the signal instantly and immediately sound. The sound from the remote receiver is also 100Dba at 1 metre. After the poolside alarm unit has sounded, the indoor remote receiver only will stop emitting an alarm after 7 seconds. Each remote receiver can be used with multiple pool side alarm units. The remote receiver works with a 12v power supply and will automatically switch over to battery power should the electricity fail.
Operate and Control Modes
The Aqua Watch Swimming Pool Alarm system once placed in the water and activated analyses the surface of your pool 24 hours a day for any unwanted intrusions. It will cease doing this once you activate the temporary sleep mode by using the magnetic disk provided. This is used to stop the alarm from sounding and places the unit into temporary sleep mode.
In-Built Re-Arming Safety Feature
When you wish to swim, place the system into sleep mode. In sleep mode, thanks to the automatic re-arming safety feature, if the pool side main alarm unit detects the pool hasn’t been used for 100 seconds (and there are no waves), the system will be automatically re-activated.
Battery
Both the poolside main alarm unit and the remote receiver will both beep once every 20 seconds to alert you that the battery is low in the poolside main alarm unit and needs to be replaced immediately. If the battery is flat in the remote receiver the indicator light will not be visible and you will hear a faint beeping sound.
Sensitivity
The alarm sensitivity is adjustable however we do NOT suggest and end user do adjustments. The sensitivity settings have already been done by the factory prior to leaving the warehouse and have been set according to worldwide industry standards.
Water Levels
The Aqua Watch Swimming Pool Alarm automatically compensates for variations of pool levels within the unit’s operating range. The pool side alarm unit utilises a sensing throat that projects into the water and this throat mustn’t be less than 5 cm and not more than 15 cm into the water. Standard test conditions recommends between 7 and 10 cm and the gap between the inside wall and the sensing throat be more than 2 cm.
False Alarms
Your Aqua Watch Swimming Pool Alarm may exhibit false alarms on occasions and may do so for different reasons. False alarms can be minimised, however, it is important to remember that a false alarm is better than no alarm at all. Light wind or rain will not effect the alarm. Heavy winds may set off the pool side alarm unit if the wind is strong enough to cause the water in the pool to ripple. Turning the alarm on too soon after swimming when the waves are still visible could also cause the alarm to sound. Some pool cleaners that hit the alarm may cause it to false alarm.
Care and Handling
The Aqua Watch Swimming Pool Alarm is made of sturdy, rigid vinyl PVC-UV rated. As the alarm is electronic and mechanical, great care should be taken not to drop the unit as like any other appliance it may break. Sun and rain will not effect the alarm and it is water resistant however it is not waterproof. If the alarm should fall into the pool, please read the manual for further instructions.
